Animation 1:

VALORANT - WARM UP

What techniques are used?

3D Modelling and animating. Aspects of 2D animation.

What is the target audience?

People that enjoy video games and play VALORANT, ages ranging from 16 - 25.

What is the purpose?

The purpose of this animation is to provide another source of entertainment for fans of VALORANT besides the game itself by creating short animated videos that include the characters from the game and follow the main storyline. These short animated videos also provide lore-wise information for fans that are invested in the story. Overall, the purpose of these animated short films is to promote the game as a whole. Due to the success of these animated shorts, the creators of VALORANT (Riot Games) recently suggested in a Q&A that they may be creating an animated TV series for VALORANT, similar to their other successful animated series, Arcane.

How effective is this?

The concept of a short animated video that displays the world in which the characters from the game VALORANT exist in was successful, as it promoted the game itself while keeping current fans entertained by provided them with content such as this. Another example of a game that created several successful cinematic videos such as this would be Overwatch. Although the main technique used in this VALORANT cinematic was 3D animation, the animation consists of small 2D animated details, such as 2D animated smoke, flames, and other minor details to enhance the realism of the 3D aspect of the animation.

Animation 2:

Madness Combat

What techniques are used?

2D animation (tweening)

What is the target audience?

Teens and young adults, although it may be distressing to some audiences due to the gore and bloody visuals.

What is the purpose?

the purpose of Madness Combat is to entertain, as the series was first posted on a website called Newgrounds which is an entertainment website and company founded by Tom Fulp in 1995. Since Newgrounds is a platform where any user can post any sort of media (art, games, series and more), Madness Combat was posted on here.

How effective is this?

Madness Combat is a series created by Matt Jolly (also known as Krinkels) that was posted on a website called Newgrounds. The entire series is 2D animated, however it is very smooth as it uses keyframes (and it was easy to animate due to the art style being very simplistic). The series was successful because it became one of the most iconic and well-known series on Newgrounds. The series was posted on Youtube in 2011, and the most popular episode had received just under 10 million views.

Animation 3:

Multiversus - DC

What techniques are used?

3D animation

What is the target audience?

Ages ranging from 12 - 20, Warner Bros fans.

What is the purpose?

The purpose of the animation is to advertise a new fighting game published by Warner bros featuring their iconic characters. The official trailer was posted on May 16, 2022, to promote the game's release in July. It was posted on the official Warner Bros. YouTube channel and has continued to be promoted through their official social media pages. The purpose of this trailer is to give viewers an early preview of what characters will be featured and available to play. It also works as a preview of what the gameplay will look like.

How effective is this?

The animated trailer for Multiversus is effective in terms of promoting the game to Warner Bros. fans, and effective in the sense of being able to attract new fans. Because the game is free to play, producing and posting a trailer has been effective for Warner Bros. as a way to promote their free-to-play game. At the beginning of the trailer, the corner of the screen states that the game will be free to play.
